You're in good hands with the team at Brighton Bariatrics. Following weight loss surgery, we have a rigorous aftercare program to help you achieve your weight loss goals.
Your patient journey
Below is an example care pathway for patients that are looking to have surgical treatment with us:
1. A full consultation with our surgeon Mr Goldie Khera to make an introduction to our services and discussing surgical procedures that might be appropriate for you. Mr Khera will then discuss more in depth about your weight loss options, your past medical history and medication history are all discussed in this appointment, as well as your needs and expectations. Afterwards, a comprehensive bariatric questionnaire is given to you to complete via email.
2. Your case will be discussed by the hospital’s bariatric multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to decide on your care going forward.
3. You will be assessed by the team, usually seeing our dietitian and psychologist (where appropriate) to make sure you are prepared for surgery.
4. A surgery date is arranged. You will have a pre-operative assessment at the hospital to make sure you’re safe for surgery.
5. Your surgery will take place at The Montefiore Hospital or Spire Gatwick Park Hospital. You will be in your own private room, and depending on your procedure, you may be at the hospital 1-2 nights.
6. After you have been safely discharged from the hospital, you will need to come back for some aftercare checks with our team.
7. You will receive continuous support for 12-24 months (depending on your procedure) with follow-up consultations with Mr Khera and our dietitian Caroline to ensure sure your recovery and weight loss is going well and support you along your journey.
